GB Soccer Boosters Meeting Minutes

According to Booster Bi-Laws our board of directors must have 7 officers. A motion was made by Melissa to accept Cathy Keener, John Ward and Maxine Huber as officers. Motion was seconded by Jean Benton. Motion carried.

We are going to ask Attorney Leo Carey or Mike Winterfield to review the Bi-Laws as they are from 1989.

Update on the stairs and dugouts: John Ward did get the donation request in to the 501C-3 foundation for $18,000.00. He has not heard anything as of yet. We would like to have Grand Blanc Schools pay for the stairs due to them being a hazard.

Cost for the heating bulbs for the dugouts is $120.00 per bulb and 6 are needed. Holding off for now as they are not needed till the girls season.

We still have not received the Buick Open Parking money for 2008. Keep in mind the 2007 money came in just before the 2008 Buick Open started. A couple of suggestions were made to look into doing the parking on a busier day. The requests have to be made early and clubs that have been doing it longer do get the better days. Another suggestion was to drop the parking fundraiser and do a different one. Rob is going to look into a casino night at the Fisher hall in Flint.

Team Pictures: Don from Studio of Grand Blanc would like the opportunity to take the team and individual pictures this year. He submitted the package prices for comparison.

Winter League: Returning girl’s varsity will play 3^rd session at the dome. Other teams can be formed if someone wants to organize it. Coach Kehler can not run or coach the girls. Rob is checking into prices at Ultimate Soccer and Wixom. Suggestion to have a car pool made up if the girls will have to travel out of the area for games in the winter. Most places are registering 2^nd session now. Omar from Perani’s is offering a conditioning night once a week for all Grand Blanc players, boys and girls. It will be a drop in format and $10.00 a week per player.

Coaches Comments:

Girl’s fitness starts January 5^th at 6:00 in the gym and weight room; Tentative for Monday and Thursday.

Next week, Coach Kehler will Announce a players meeting to go over details. Try outs will be March 9^th in the gym. He did register the varsity team for the annual tournament March 13^th and 14^th.

Easter Break will be April 6^th – 13^th. If he has enough players in town over break he will hold practice, non mandatory.

A motion was made by Rob to have the Ryan Schlee will be on July 25^th. Seconded by Jean, motion was carried.

Committee is being formed and chaired by Jean Benton and Cathy Keener. Anyone interested in helping should contact them.

Jen Gill is looking for someone to work with her on game schedules. She may have to drop this year due to conflict with her work.

Janette is going to check into taking credit cards this year for registration fees and donations.

It has been decided that in order to help keep the boosters moving forward we will keep the same officers for both boys and girls season.

Old Business:

· Dugouts and stairs: John Ward has submitted a request to a 501c-3 foundation for the amount of $18,000.00 to be used in the rebuilding of the stairs to the press box and new dugouts. The requested amount was determined by a bid from Motor City Builders. If the request is accepted, a plaque would be made to recognize the foundation and we would check into putting a special interest article in both the Grand Blanc News and the Grand Blanc View.

· Rob is going to check with Coach Kehler and JP Adams about a copy of the school budget report. We would like to see how much money is allocated for soccer and what rules apply as to the spending.

· Tentative date for the Ryan Schlee is August 1^st pending approval from the Schlee family. Discussion about changing to a micro soccer format. Thinking this and the date change may boost registration. Once date is confirmed we can start the request for donations from the area businesses. Alternate date will be July 25^th.

New Business:

· Rob is checking with Coach Kehler to be sure that the school budget doesn’t cover the cost for new heating bulbs for the dugouts. He is going to price them out and if school will not cover cost, we will look for approval from the boosters to cover it.

· Also discussed coordinating prices and layout of programs for both the boys and girls season. Misty (boys) has volunteered to work with Diane (girls) to get her started. The boys sold advertising spots to companies, earning extra money for the boosters. Thinking is the girls should do the same. Also making an incentive for the players to help sell spots in exchange for their own ad. Companies could purchase boys, girls or both season ads.

· Boys Banquet is set for November 5^th at Warwick. Ticket money needs to be in by October 22^nd.

· Because of banquet the next Booster meeting is being moved to November 12^th.

· If you know anyone who has soccer pictures that you would like on our web site please get them to Rob Trudeau. If you have Alumi information he is also updating that web site.

If you know any up and coming freshmen that are playing soccer please have them contact Rob Trudeau so he can add them to the information email list.
