2008 Boys Weekend Soccer Blowout

August 8th - 10th 2008

What:      Weekend camping trip to North Higgins Lake State Park This event will be chaperoned by Grand Blanc High School Soccer Booster Dads. Participants will build friendships with potential teammates; participate in conditioning workouts, soccer skill-building and small-sided games. Participants will also be able to perform other camping-related activities such as basketball, cookouts, campfires, swimming, etc. All participants will be tent camping at North Higgins Lake State Park. All food and beverages will be provided beginning with Friday’s dinner through Sunday breakfast. The boys can bring any special or extra snacks they desire.

When:    Friday morning, August 08 through Sunday, August 10. We will car-pool from the GB High School soccer field parking lot at 10:00 am on Friday, with a tentative arrival at North Higgins Lake State Park  at 12:30 PM. Return will be Sunday (tentatively early afternoon depending on camp wrap-up)    (Note: Ryan Schlee 3v3 is July 19th,)

Who:      Any boy planning to try out for the GB High School soccer team this fall (Varsity, JVA or JVB). This is strictly a volunteer event conducted by the Soccer Boosters.  Participation (or lack thereof) will have no effect on any boy’s chance of making a high school team. Team selection is based solely on the decision of the GB High School Soccer Coaching Staff who will make their determination based on player’s performance during the official soccer tryouts.

Cost:      $40.00 per player. Payment must accompany the registration form (attached below).   Please make checks payable to Andy Walker and send with completed and signed registration form to: 1553 Kings Carriage Dr., Grand Blanc, MI 48439.

General Information

 Participants should bring:  

1) Sleeping bag, pillow, personal toiletries (sunscreen, contact lens solution, toothbrush & paste, etc.)

2) Tent (if available)

3) Suggested clothing: Jeans, sweatshirt, t-shirts, bathing suit and beach towels, appropriate clothing/jacket for cool weather, rain slicker/poncho. Extra practice t-shirts, shorts. Extra underwear, socks, etc. Extra shoes, sandals.

4) Soccer practice gear: running shoes and soccer cleats, ball, shin guards (mandatory) tape (if required), water bottle, light and dark practice t-shirts, shorts, socks, etc.

5) Recreational equipment such as cards, Frisbees, etc.

6) Folding camp or canvas chair(s) if available.
